Longmeadow is a mid-sized town in Hampden County, Massachusetts with a population of almost 16,000. First settled in 1644, Longmeadow was originally farmland and it remains so until 1910, when the population tripled. Today, over 30% of the town is permanent open space with conservation land that has been turned into wildlife preserves and parks. Longmeadow has a Town Common along U.S. Route 5 with many historic homes that are set much farther back from the road than is common. These homes are among the most sought-after in the town.

Many styles of architecture are represented in Longmeadow, most notably the Colonial style home. Many homes in Longmeadow are historic and have been renovated since their construction in the 18th and 19th centuries. There are also many newer homes built in the last thirty years. Other popular styles of homes in Longmeadow is the Cape Cod home and the contemporary style, popularized during the 1980s. Homes for sale in Longmeadow range greatly in terms of price and size. Many older ranch homes are about 1,500 square feet in size while newer Colonial style homes have more than 4,000 square feet of living space.
