Holyoke is a city in Hampden County, Massachusetts between the Mount Tom Range and the Connecticut River. Holyoke is 8 miles north of Springfield and part of the Springfield metro area with a population of 40,000. Holyoke was one of America's first planned industrial communities with a street layout that lends perfectly to high-rise buildings and a grid pattern that is very unique in Western Massachusetts, a region with few straight roads. Holyoke is still a major industrial center but it is also a popular suburb of Springfield with a thriving residential real estate market.
