Bolton is an eastern Massachusetts town situated just 25 miles northwest of Boston. This Worcester County town is home to about 5,000 people according to the 2010 census. While once largely agricultural, Bolton now offers quite a residential atmosphere. Most of the land has gone undeveloped since the 1730s, especially with strict regulations on land usage and building.
Bolton offers about 20 square miles of land, with residents using private wells rather than public sewage and water, contributing to the small-town atmosphere. Additionally, colonial homes are very popular here. You will also find some brick federal and Greek revival homes built in the 1700s. Italianate and Victorian homes from the 1800s are also still intact. You will also see a variety of Gothic structures in town, as well as many homes situated on large lots. Most homes offer acreage, and some offer quaint meadows to explore and develop.
Harvard, Stow, Hudson, Berlin, Clinton, and Lancaster all border Bolton. Many dairy farms and fruit orchards are still located in town, but it offers a larger population now than ever.
